On 13 May 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS), for the financial year of 2018 in Wisma Barito Pacific, Jakarta. Led by Mr. Djoko Suyanto as President Commissioner, the meeting was attended by the board of commissioner and directors of Chandra Asri. On this occasion, the shareholders approved to all the subjects discussed, one of them was the use of net profit in 2018 as cash dividends with a total value of US$54,500,000. This number will be taking into account with an interim dividend of US$28,801,917 paid on 24 October 2018. Thus, the remaining amount of cash dividend to be paid is US$25,698,083 or equal with US$0.00144.
The meeting also approved changes in company's structure which will start effective from 1 July 2019 until the closing of the Company's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be held in 2021, as well as several amendments to the Articles of Association, one of them, was the change in the company's status from foreign investment become domestic investment.
As a form of concern for the environment, on 30 May 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held a beach clean up called Coastal Clean Up. The event was held at Paku Beach, Anyer, Serang, is a collaboration between Chandra Asri and Dow Chemical Indonesia. 336 people participated along the 2 kilometer coast of Paku Beach and managed to collect 1,036 kilograms of waste which were divided into 11 categories. These wastes are handed over to TPS3R to be managed and recycled. This activity is expected to provide education regarding waste sorting and the 3R concept (Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle) as a waste management solution.
After being implemented for four months, the first phase of Nutrition Checkpoint Program by PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk was completed in April 2019. This program focuses on overcoming the problem of malnutrition in children which if left unchecked can cause health problems as the child grows. Cooperating with the Cilegon Public Health Office and the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UTPD) in Citangkil and Ciwandan District Health Centers, Cilegon. Chandra Asri targets 20 children in this health quality improvement program.
During the program, infants and toddlers with malnutrition status received intensive assistance from the UPTD Health Centers. Although this first phase has been completed, Chandra Asri will continue to monitoring and evaluation periodically for the participant children to ensure ideal nutritional development. In the future, this program will be replicated to other health centers in Cilegon, according to directions and recommendations from the Health Office.
As one of the facilities to support employee sports activities, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk built a Sport Hall in Dormitory PCI, Cilegon which was inaugurated on 27 April 2019. The event began with healthy gymnastics and door prizes as entertainment. Then the inauguration ceremony was marked by the signing of the inscription and ribbon cutting by Mr. Kulachet Dharachandra, Operations VP Director. The event continued with the Sport Exhibition, a futsal, badminton and table tennis friendly match with the aim of strengthening the togetherness of all employees. Hopefully the employees and family of Chandra Asri can use and maintain this facility as well as possible.
22 March 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk received Nation Builder and Early Disaster Responder awards in Donor Appreciation Night held by Habitat for Humanity Indonesia.
These awards are a token of appreciation towards Chandra Asri’s active approach in supporting disaster response programs and post disaster recovery programs for survivors impacted from earthquake and liquefaction in Palu, Central Sulawesi and Tsunami Sunda Strait.
The Early Disaster Responder award was given to the company for being responsive in supporting the needs of shelter for natural disasters victims. The Nation Builder award was given to the company for its donation towards house development for people in needs in Indonesia.
Through these supports, Chandra Asri aimed to lift-up the burden of natural disasters victims in rebuilding their lives for the future.
In 21 March 2019, Monomer Plant team of PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk attend awarding ceremony of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Award 2018 in Kyoto, Japan for the achievement of TPM Excellence Award Category A. The award was being handed over by Mr. Akira Ichikawa and Mr. Kimio Ishikawa as Monomer Plant’s assessors in 2018 to Mr. Rakphon Sooksiri, Chandra Asri’s Monomer Chairman accompanied by Pillar Leaders from Planned Maintenance (PM) Pillar, Initial Phase Management (IPM) Pillar, Administrative & Office (AO) Pillar and TPM Promoter.
TPM Award is being run by Japan Institute for Plant Maintenance (JIPM) and awarded to manufacturing companies who succeed in implementing TPM principles. TPM itself is a maintenance method and technique aimed to reduce work risks and increase production efficiencies.
The attainment of TPM Excellence Award Category A on Monomer Plant, completes the line of Chandra Asri’s plants that receive the same award (SMI Plant and Polymer Plant have passed the assessment for TPM Excellence award in 2016 and 2017). Chandra Asri, is committed to maintain this achievement and will continuously improve and strive for more.
On 27 February 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held tsunami evacuation drill in Cilegon’s Junior High School 9, which located on Ciwandan District, Cilegon and only 1 kilometer away from Anyer coastline. The location of Cilegon’s Junior High School 9 that is bordering with the shore, makes the socialization of disaster preparedness, especially tsunami, very important for the academic civitas. The simulation began with fundamental training and ended with a drill of 500 meter evacuation route from the school. Through this simulation, the students are expected to disseminate the information to surrounding communities, especially those who reside near the coastline, thus they will be more aware of what should be done in the time of tsunami.
On 14 February 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk and City Government of Cilegon, signed memorandum of understanding for the implementation of 10 kilometers long road in Cilegon, Banten with mixture of used plastic bag in its asphalt. The memorandum of understanding was being signed by President Director of Chandra Asri, Bapak Erwin Ciputra and Acting Mayor of Cilegon, Bapak Edi Ariadi. This cooperation affirms Chandra Asri’s commitment on supporting the government’s goal to reduce 70% plastic waste in the ocean by 2025.
Chandra Asri will support with 30 tonnes of shredded used plastic bag for the asphalt mixture, which road construction then be implemented by City Government of Cilegon. According to the research of Ministry of Public Work and Public Housing (PUPR), the plastic road has 40% stronger stability compared to normal road. Through this cooperation, Chandra Asri wishes to change public perception on the value of waste, thus public could be wiser in managing waste, especially plastic waste.
On 11 February 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk, with Happy Hearts Indonesia inaugurated PAUD Widuri that is located in Kubangsari, Ciwandan District, CIlegon, Banten. PAUD Widuri was inaugurated by Chandra Asri Manufacturing Director, Bapak Somkoun Sriwattagaphong and Happy Hearts Indonesia Development Director, Bapak Lusman Yunarto. PAUD Widuri, is one of Chandra Asri CSR program beneficiaries in education pillar. Prior to the renovation, PAUD Widuri was located on one of the resident’s backyard with no proper infrastructure to support the education.
Now PAUD Widuri has its own building with two comfortable classrooms, infrastructures and playing area for the children. These infrastructures are expected to be able to cater cheerful and creative childhood, thus it leaves good memory on how fun learning could be and in the latter, children from PAUD Widuri could share the same trait of eager and love to learn.
On 12 January 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held socialization related to natural disasters handling, attended by Head of BNPB, TNI Lieutenant General Doni Monardo, to deliver the information on the importance of disaster mitigation education, especially earthquakes and tsunamis that are prone Banten’s Sunda Strait region. The disaster mitigation socialization was also attended by the Head of BMKG, Director General of Cipta Karya PUPR, Head of Center for PVMBG, Deputy 1,2, and 3 BNPB, Echelon 1 Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, KKP, LIPPI, BPPT, local Wantanas Forkompimda.
On this occasion, several topics related to natural disasters handlingwas also delivered by various experts, ranging from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the National Disaster Management Agency, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Hydro-Oceanographic Center of the Indonesian Navy and the Geological Agency with each of them provides synergistic presentation in accordance with the field. The synergy of various parties is important to do thus industrial area is more prepared with natural disasters.
