Paku Coastal Beach Clean Up

As a form of concern for the environment, on 30 May 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk held a beach clean up called Coastal Clean Up. The event was held at Paku Beach, Anyer, Serang, is a collaboration between Chandra Asri and Dow Chemical Indonesia. 336 people participated along the 2 kilometer coast of Paku Beach and managed to collect 1,036 kilograms of waste which were divided into 11 categories. These wastes are handed over to TPS3R to be managed and recycled. This activity is expected to provide education regarding waste sorting and the 3R concept (Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle) as a waste management solution.

Chandra Asri Supports City Government of Cilegon for Plastic Road Implementation

On 14 February 2019, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk and City Government of Cilegon, signed memorandum of understanding for the implementation of 10 kilometers long road in Cilegon, Banten with mixture of used plastic bag in its asphalt. The memorandum of understanding was being signed by President Director of Chandra Asri, Bapak Erwin Ciputra and Acting Mayor of Cilegon, Bapak Edi Ariadi. This cooperation affirms Chandra Asri’s commitment on supporting the government’s goal to reduce 70% plastic waste in the ocean by 2025. 

Chandra Asri will support with 30 tonnes of shredded used plastic bag for the asphalt mixture, which road construction then be implemented by City Government of Cilegon. According to the research of Ministry of Public Work and Public Housing (PUPR), the plastic road has 40% stronger stability compared to normal road. Through this cooperation, Chandra Asri wishes to change public perception on the value of waste, thus public could be wiser in managing waste, especially plastic waste.
